Features & Benefits

John Deere 4020 & 5030 engines

The new John Deere PowerTech® 2.4L and 3.0L diesel engines are prime examples of the ongoing John Deere commitment to recognizing and exceeding customer expectations. The decision to design and manufacture engines in this range came after extensive research revealed there was a need for a better, more cost effective way to power various equipment requiring 35 to 99 horsepower (26 to 74 kW).

See for yourself how John Deere has succeeded at bringing you smooth-running, cost-effective solutions for a wide range of off-highway applications.

Setting New Industry Standards
The PowerTech 2.4L and 3.0L engines set new industry standards with significantly lower noise levels, low heat rejection and smooth operation while maintaining the exceptional John Deere performance and reliability you expect.

Low Installed Cost
The ability to achieve low noise and low heat rejection results in lower installed cost for OEMs as these engines can reduce or eliminate the need for costly sound attenuation, vibration isolation and new cooling systems.

Low Heat Rejection
Designed for impressively low heat rejection, the 2.4L and 3.0L engines will save OEMs money, re-engineering time, fan power and noise by allowing them to maintain existing cooling system packages.

Maximum Performance
With a 50 to 90 percent reduction (3 to 8 dBA) in noise compared to competitive engine models, these PowerTech 2.4L and 3.0L engines combine robust power with exceptionally smooth, quiet operation.

Low Operating Cost
With a detailed focus on each aspect of the PowerTech 2.4L and 3.0L engines, John Deere engineers were able to enhance performance while lowering operating costs. OEMs and end users are sure to appreciate the engines’ features, including either side service, a self-adjusting fan belt tensioner and no required valve-lash adjustment. These cost-efficient engines offer competitive fuel economy and extended service intervals.

Increased Versatility
The clean design of PowerTech® 2.4L and 3.0L engines provides application flexibility with multiple mounting points and an optional mount for an A/C compressor or other belt-driven components. The mechanically governed fuel injection system is mounted inside the block and head, which eliminates external high-pressure lines and minimizes potential leak paths.
